The Auburn Housing Authority has proudly served the City of Auburn for more than 65 years. The Housing Authority owns and/or manages the following apartment complexes: Olympia Terrace, Brogan Manor, Melone Village, and Merriman Circle. The Housing Authority also operates a 394-voucher Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Our mission is to promote adequate, affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a suitable living environment free from discrimination. The Auburn Housing Authority creates and maintains partnerships with clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission. The Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners is a 7-member body comprised of 2 tenant commissioners elected by our residents and 5 commissioners appointed by the Auburn City Manager. The Board of Commissioners meets the first Monday of each month at 3:00 PM at the Housing Authority’s main office at 7 Merriman Street, Auburn, and occasionally holds one or two additional meetings per year.
Commissioners help to set the mission of the Housing Authority and guide its policies to ensure that the mission is being met.Commissioners also perform important oversite functions, including monitoring the Housing Authority’s statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations, safeguarding the financial integrity of the Housing Authority, ensure that the Housing Authority is operating in an ethical and effective manner, and keeping informed of subsidized housing industry rules and regulations.
