Roger J. Anthony (Deputy Chief of Police)
  • Directs largest division of Auburn Police Department – Patrol.
  • Supervises 3 captains and 2 lieutenants in the operation of their shifts
  • Coordinates functions of the Patrol Division with other divisions in the department, with other law enforcement agencies, and with other governmental agencies
  • Issues written and verbal orders to patrol and ensures professionalism throughout the Patrol Division.
  • Oversees the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, consisting of 1 sergeant and 3 officers. The taskforce is responsible for conducting narcotics investigations.

Paul Casper (Planning & Training Captain)
  • Identifies through analysis of records, personal observation and recommendations from the command staff, areas in which training is needed
  • Develops and coordinates a comprehensive, cost effective, program of continuous in-service training
  • Reviews, analyzes and modernizes all department plans, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the field training program that is required of police officer candidates prior to graduation from the police academy.
  • Coordinates and manages the department’s criminal justice internship program in conjunction with area colleges that qualify.
  • Supervises the department’s Records Bureau.

 James Moore (Detective / ID Bureau Captain)
  • Graduate of Auburn High School in 1990 and SUNY Plattsburgh in 1994 with B.A. in Criminal Justice Hired 01/03/1995.
  • Sergeant from 2008-12, Lieutenant from 2012-14, Captain of Planning and Training, and Records, from 2014-16.
  • Supervisor for 4 detectives. Detectives investigate felonies and serious crimes which may require in-depth and lengthy investigations, which may require a multitude of techniques and various resources, including inter-agency and multi-jurisdictional cooperation.
  • Oversees 1 Identification officer who is responsible for safe guarding, storing, and processing property and evidence secured by APD in the course of criminal investigations and daily operations.

 Mark Schattinger (Captain of Patrol)
  • Promoted to Sergeant 03/31/2010, Promoted to Captain 10/01/2014.
  • Immediate commander of the patrol division and direct supervisor of patrol lieutenants and sergeants.
  • Assists the Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Police with development of administrative policy and responsible for the enforcement of all departmental orders, rules and regulations.
  • Develops "plans of action" for non-routine police calls for service and directs the patrol division in its daily activities.
  • Trains, directs, supervises, and evaluates patrol supervisors in their assigned duties.
  • Recommends remedial or disciplinary action, and recommends subjects and areas which need to be addressed
