East Genesee Street - John Street Paving Project
The E. Genesee Street and John Street Repaving Project was completed in the spring of 2023. Project history is listed below.
Public notice: On Friday May 19, 2023 the contractor will be re-striping East Genesee St Hill from Fulton Street to Loop Rd and John Street from the Arterial East to Genesee Street. They are planning this work to take one day. There will be various lane, and parking closures associated with this work. This will complete the final phase of work associated with the E Genesee St/John St Paving Project.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Tuesday, November 11, 2022
John Street Update:
-There will be a few 1 lane closures while sidewalks and restoration is done estimated for the Week of November 14th.
Genesee Street Update:
-Vitale is currently working on patching which will cause some lane reductions.
-Binder course asphalt is scheduled for Friday November 11th and Monday November 14th weather depending. Binder course asphalt placement will require a road closure at Seminary Ave for Friday.
-Manhole and Catchbasin adjustment have started and will continue.
-Final Pavement, and substantial completion Is expected by Friday the 18th if the weather cooperates.
-Some sidewalk repairs, temporary striping, and final restoration to follow.
During Paving operations traffic lanes will be reduced to two travel lanes, one lane in either direction or temporarily reduced to 1 lane of travel.

John Street Update:
-John Street is now open to traffic
-There will be a few 1 lane closures while sidewalks and restoration is done Estimated for the Week of November 14th.

-Manhole and Catchbasin adjustment and repairs following binder asphalt installation.
-Sidewalk Repairs, restoration, and final pavement to follow.
During Paving operations traffic lanes will be reduced to two travel lanes, one lane in either direction or temporarily reduced to 1 lane of travel.

John Street Update:
-Sewer Separation and utility upgrades are complete.
-Curb is complete.
-Milling is complete.
Unfortunately John Street project closure will carry into next week for final pavement placement. Vitale will require the closure to pave both binder and top course of asphalt. After paving is complete the road will be opened back up. Paving is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday weather depending. Remaining sidewalk work and restoration will not require a full road closure. The road closure will extend through next week 11-4, but it will be opened early if possible.
Genesee Street Update:
-Utility upgrades are complete.
-Curbing is complete.
-Milling tentatively scheduled for Genesee St on Thursday 11-3
-Trench Repair and Patching Friday 11-4.
-Paving Binder tentatively scheduled for the week of 11-7.
-Manhole and Catch basin adjustment and repairs week of 11-7
-Sidewalk Repairs, restoration, and final pavement to follow.
During Milling and Paving operations traffic lanes will be reduced to two travel lanes, one lane in either direction.

Contractor Schedule for the week of October 24 - October 28
Currently John Street will remain closed except for local traffic. East Genesee street will have some lane reductions while Vitale is digging for curbing and placing curbing Monday, October 24 - Wednesday October 26 and Friday, October 28. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained at all times but parking will remain limited.

Contractor Schedule for the week of October 17 - October 21
Currently John Street will remain closed except for local traffic. Additionally, East Genesee street will have lane closures on Wednesday (10/19) and Thursday (10/20). Eastbound traffic will be maintained at all times, but westbound traffic may be limited or closed on these days because of utility upgrades.
COMPLETE DETAILED CONTRACTOR WORK SCHEDULE - Contractor work schedule as of 09/2022
The East Genesee Street/John Street Paving Project involves the Milling and Paving of E. Genesee Street between the Genesee Street Bridge and Fulton St and also the Milling and Paving of John Street between E. Genesee Street and the Arterial East. This project also includes the installation of storm sewer laterals, improvements to corner sidewalk ramps, repairs and improvements to utility road patches, and adjustments and repairs of manholes and catch basins.
The John Street road closure is scheduled to start October 4, 2022. The Contractor plans on leaving John Street closed until October 28,2022, however, the road will be accessible for emergency traffic and local traffic. By the end of November 2022, it is anticipated that final paving operations will be complete.
