The City of Auburn North Division Street Hydro-Electric Project Overview

The North Division Street Hydroelectric facility is undergoing remodeling so it may become a fully functioning renewable energy provider. This new facility will be a gem in Auburn, providing clean energy generated by the Owasco River. Once completed, this location will have a number of benefits that will create growth within the city and the county as a whole. The North Division Street Dam will become a natural and clean power provider. The revitalization of the North Division Street Dam will create electricity using the Owasco River and in doing so provide additional power to the City of Auburn and surrounding areas. The rehabilitation of this Dam will create over 4,000 MWh annually for Auburn and the county as a whole.

The Project hinges on multiple funding and creative cash flow opportunities including a $1.2 Million dollar grant provided by the New York State Empire Development Agency (NYSESD), the sale of Renewable Energy Credits to the New York State Energy Research & Development Agency (NYSERDA), Federal IRS Clean Renewable Energy Bonding, and remote net metering whereas the City will utilize their existing metered accounts as the end user of the energy created at the facility.
