A Portion of Columbus Street to Close October 31, 2019 to Allow for Final Construction Work and November 1, 2019 Opening of the N. Division Street Bridge

The N. Division Street Bridge will open November 1, 2019. 

On October 31, 2019 between 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. the contractor will complete the asphalt paving on N. Division Street and Columbus Street to allow for the opening of the new bridge.  This section of Columbus Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during these hours.  On October 31, 2019 vehicular traffic is asked to please detour to the west using Clark Street Road by the entrance to the Finger Lakes Mall or detour to the east using Washington Street.  The Auburn Fire Department will have access to the intersection in cases of emergency response, as well as, they have made alternative emergency response plans to be used during this closure.

Following this work, the N. Division Street Bridge will open on November 1, 2019.

The N. Division Street Bridge Replacement Project is a $6.5 million infrastructure investment that will revitalize this major connection on our City's west end. The construction portion of this project is funded by the Federal and State government through a BRIDGE NY grant covering 99.5% of the $6.5 million project. The local share of the construction cost is $31,000.

This project includes:

  • the complete replacement and realignment of the N. Division Street Bidge
  • reconstruction and realignment of the intersection at N. Division St./Clark St./Columbus St./Arterial West.
  • replacement of the railroad crossing at the above intersection to include brand new tracks and signals

 

Vehicle Detours

During the the N. Division Street Bridge Replacement Project vehicles and pedestrians will need to use marked detours.

Local traffic: Detour to the west will use the Aurelius Avenue bridge; detours to the east will use Washington Street and State Street.

Truck traffic: All truck traffic should use designated truck routes, NYS Route 5 & 20 to NYS Route 34 north and use York Street to access the Technology Park.
