Downtown Parking Information

08-31-2023 Public Notice: Downtown Auburn Full Parking Enforcement to Resume on October 1, 2023. Click here for information.

In May of 2021 the Auburn City Council decided that a 2 hour free parking program in downtown Auburn would be implemented utilizing a portion of the City's American Rescue Plan Act funding to help the downtown area recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2 hour free on street parking promotion is in effect through September 30, 2023.

Auburn, NY - The City and the Auburn Downtown BID have announced a new downtown parking initiative intended to support our downtown businesses.  This program will last until September 30, 2023. Details are as follows:

  • This 2 hour free parking promotion was made possible by the City of Auburn City Council utilizing funding received through the Federal American Rescue Plan Act.
  • On-street parking will be free for 2-hours.  Parking enforcement will monitor the on-street parking to maintain parking turnover during Monday through Friday business hours, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.  Tickets will be issued to overtime violators following the free two hours.
  • All areas of the downtown parking garage on Lincoln Street offer free 2-hour parking as part of this program.
  • The city has implemented a new courtesy ticket program that will issue a courtesy ticket rather than a parking ticket if you have not received a parking meter violation ticket in the previous 6 months.
  • The 2-hour free parking program will not be offered in the other city-owned parking lots due to the lots being provided mainly for long-term parking users.
  • Please note, the free parking promotion will last through September 30, 2023. On October 1, 2023 full parking enforcement will resume throughout downtown.  Click here for information.
