Fire Chief's Message

Fire Chief
Chief Mark Fritz

The Auburn Fire Department provides the citizens of our City with many public safety services. In addition to fire suppression, we offer Fire Prevention Programs for many groups in our community. These are available to businesses, industrial facilities, institutions, schools and community organizations. The programs reach pre-school aged children, our elderly population, and every community member in between. Our Fire Inspection Program works hand in hand with our Fire Prevention Program to form the first link of defense against the ravages of fire.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) we provide has become well known to the residents of Auburn. Every fire apparatus is equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment and cardiac defibrillators. All Fire Officers and Firefighters are certified Emergency Medical Technicians and able to provide rapid emergency medical care to our citizens whenever and wherever needed.

The Department has specialized teams trained in Hazardous Materials Response, Water/Ice Rescue, Low/High Angle Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue and Building Collapse Rescue. Team members conduct regular training on the equipment and technics needed to bring these incidents to a safe conclusion.

When City residents are confronted with an emergency, the Auburn Fire Department rapidly deploys the resources needed to effectively and efficiently address the situation. As an organization, we have committed ourselves to the continuing education and constant training required to provide the highest level of service to citizens of Auburn.

As Fire Chief, I am proud of the professionalism and dedication exhibited by the Fire Officers and Firefighters on a daily basis. I believe their unwavering service make your fire department one of the finest Municipal Fire Departments in New York State.
