While the air quality in Cayuga County remains "UNHEALTHY" the Cayuga County Health Department reminds people to limit outdoor activity to reduce their risk of adverse health effects.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and teens – take these steps to reduce your exposure:

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.

• Keep outdoor activities short.

• Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.

• Those with related healthcare concerns should consider contacting their healthcare provider.

Everyone else – take these steps to reduce your exposure:

• Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.

• Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.

• Be active outdoors when air quality is better.

If you are spending time outdoors, N95 and KN95 masks can be worn to reduce the inhalation of fine particles from the air. Check your local pharmacies for these high-quality masks. Check with your healthcare provider about any concerns you may have!
