City Parks Dept. Announces 2019 Summer Events Calendar

More concerts and movies will be brought to more parks throughout the City of Auburn this summer thanks to more sponsors of the 2019 City of Auburn’s Parks & Recreation Summer Events!

Residents of Auburn should be on the look-out for the 2019 Summer Event Calendar that will be mailed to each household this week as an insert to the July 1 Streamline Recycling Calendar.

“We all value the quality of life that we have in Auburn and summer events in our parks offer fun for all. This year we have programmed more music and movies thanks to generous contributions from sponsors. We will have events at parks this summer throughout the City and hope that our residents will take advantage of all the summer fun”, stated Mayor Michael D. Quill.

Things kick-off for the summer with the annual Sizzlin’ Summer Kick-off Party that will be held Downtown on Saturday, June 22, 2019 featuring a Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition, live music and vendors.

The popular Tuesday night music and movie series returns to Hoopes Park and Thursday nights the Market Street Park downtown will host live music.  To spread the series of summer events throughout the City, music and movies will be shown on various dates at Clifford Park (Y-field); Casey Park; Lincoln Playground; St. Frances Playground; Miles/Lepak Park aka the Permaculture Park; the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center; and the top floor of the downtown parking garage!

The downtown “Music on the Mall” series returns bringing live music to State Street on four Friday nights; the 4th annual Harriet Tubman Freedom Music Festival a production of Sean McLeod and the New York Institute of Dance and Education is July 13th; Founders Day and the FLAACA car show returns downtown on August 10th,  new this year will be an evening concert at Falcon Park; and, TomatoFest returns on September 7th. 

Another NEW weekly downtown event, the “Saturday Market” at the Equal Rights Heritage Center (ERHC), 25 South St., will be featuring live music, kid’s activities, produce, artisans, food & beverage vendors.  The Saturday Market will be held 9 am - 2 pm every Saturday through October 26th.

The Auburn Doubledays baseball season kicks-off with the home opener on Sunday, June 16th with the first pitch being thrown at 4 pm.  Auburn residents are encouraged to look inside the new 2019 Summer Event Calendar Mailer for a coupon for 2 free General Admission Tickets to a game this summer.

The Casey Park Pool will be open June 22 through August 24, 2019!  Operated by the City in partnership with the YMCA the pool is located at the Casey Park Recreation Center, 150 N Division Street.
