Notice: A Public Hearing for Local Law #1 of 2023 Will be Held July 13, 2023 at 5:00 PM

Auburn City Council, Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that the Auburn City Council has called a public hearing to be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. regarding Local Law #1 of 2023 Amending Sections of the "Housing Standards" Chapter of the Auburn City Code.

This public hearing will be held during the regular City Council meeting in the Council Chambers at Memorial City Hall, 24 South Street, first floor, Auburn, NY  13021.

Background information regarding Local Law No. 1 of 2023 is as follows, the 1991 update to the City of Auburn Code included a Chapter entitled “Housing Standards” to include a section outlining the enforcement of the same. Although the Housing Standards Chapter includes a section regarding judicial review, there currently exists no administrative remedy. It is necessary for the purposes of efficiency, clarity and certainty that the Housing Standards Chapter include such a remedy.  Local Law No. 1 of 2023 proposes to update Chapter 182 of the City Code to achieve the goal of clarifying and enhancing the appellate process by providing such an administrative remedy and placing the administrative process within the City’s Nuisance Abatement Committee purview.
