GirlTrek Global Walk for Harriet Tubman – Live From Auburn, NY, On Thursday, March 10, 2022 GirlTrek’s one million members will lead the largest “moving tribute” to Harriet Tubman in history. GirlTrek will be holding a walk for Harriet from the Equal Rights Heritage Center. The cofounder of GirlTrek, Vanessa Garrison will be live- streaming the walk the morning of March 10th. Hundreds of participants from other communities have signed up and pledged to take part in the 2.22 mile walk in their own communities at the same time. March 12, 2022 at 9am GirlTrek’s Vanessa Garrison will be leading a community walk for Harriet Tubman at 9am on Saturday starting at the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center (EHRC) in Auburn walking to the Harriet Tubman Home and returning back to the Heritage Center before the 11am "Tubman 200th" kick-off ceremony.
March 12, 2022 at 11am – City of Auburn, NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center (ERHC) and the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park present the kick-off event for the Tubman Bicentennial. This event will live-stream from ERHC and we are also now going to allow in person attendance at this event. There will be proclamations presented and the guest speaker is Vanessa Garrison from GirlTrek. On display at the ERHC will be hundreds of Tubman Birthday cards that have been made by elementary students from all over Auburn and Cayuga County.
