Finger Lakes Rail will reconstruct rail crossing at N. Division St./Columbus St./Arterial West intersection Oct. 18 - 21, 2019

Replacement of rail crossing will allow for completion of the N. Division St. Bridge replacement project.

The N. Division Street Bridge replacement project will be completed in the fall of 2019.

The City of Auburn is currently replacing the N. Division Street Bridge, a $6.5 million infrastructure investment that will revitalize this major connection on our City's west end. The construction portion of this project is funded by the Federal and State government through a BRIDGE NY grant covering 99.5% of the $6.5 million project. The local share of the construction cost is $31,000.

This project includes:

  • the complete replacement and realignment of the N. Division Street Bidge
  • reconstruction and realignment of the intersection at N. Division St./Clark St./Columbus St./Arterial West.
  • replacement of the railroad crossing at the above intersection to include brand new tracks and signals

Finger Lakes Railroad has scheduled the replacement of the rail crossing tracks for the weekend October 18 through 20, 2019.  When the railroad does a replacement such as this they usually work 24 hours over 2-3 days to get the work done.  Following the replacement of the rail crossing the contractor will complete the asphalt paving on N. Division Street and Clark Street and the opening of the bridge will occur once the State DOT completes the final inspection and clears the bridge to be used.  During the period between October 18 - 20, 2019 please detour to the west using Clark Street Road by the entrance to the Finger Lakes Mall or detour to the east using Washington Street.  The Auburn Fire Department will have access to the intersection in cases of emergency response, as well as, they have made alternative emergency response plans to be used during this closure.
