Permits are required for the following:

The erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, removal, improvement, demolition, conversion or change in the nature of the occupancy of any building or structure.

All clients wishing to obtain a permit must either:
  • Supply this office with the contractor's certificate of insurance showing worker's compensation and disability (if the contractor does not carry worker's compensation and disability s/he must obtain a form CE-200 from the New York Workers' Compensation Board), or;
  • If the homeowner is doing the work, s/he must sign a self-liability waiver
  • All exterior work in the Historic District must apply to the Historic Resources Review Board and receive a Certificate of Appropriateness prior to obtaining a permit. Call (315) 253-5397 for more information.

Drawings/plot plans must also be submitted for construction including, but not limited to, fences, pools, new construction, accessory structures, additions, and driveways. Any job with an estimated cost of $20,000.00 or more is required to submit three sets of stamped N.Y.S. architectural plan.

The above is not a complete list of work requiring a permit.  A permit is not required for painting, carpeting, floor covering above the sub-floor. Please contact us for more details as needed.

All above fees are subject to a base fee of $40.00 except where so noted.

Permit fees are doubled when permit is taken out pursuant to order of the Office of Code Enforcement.
